Oscar review: Better luck next year

The Bad:

Remember how much I adored Marion Cotillard at the SAGs? http://cvanson.blogspot.com/2008/01/its-like-breath-of-fresh-air_30.html

I praised her stylist for making her so timeless and classic. Now I’m beginning to think her stylist is Ariel. The first look at the SAGs she refers to as “On shore” the second, unfortunately at the Oscars, “Under the Sea”.
Perhaps next year Cinderella will step into the stylist role.

I really want to like Tilda Swinton. She’s witty, intelligent, has a cool name, and best of all got to work side by side with George in Michael Clayton. Her choice of mansuit blazer at the SAGs was even forgivable. However, I cannot let this one go…
She has the kind of body I run four miles a day for (ok, not every day). Unfortunately, one would only suspect this from her one thin toned arm showing out of this crushed velvet trash bag. What I have the most issue with comes with the curse of Tilda’s red hair and her preference for no makeup. The white eyelashes are BEGGING for a coat of mascara!

For her second appearance on the worst dressed list is Miss Ellen Page. She has a softer look with more blush this time. However, this dress is frumpy. The dropped waist does nothing for her. I have my suspicions she is trying her best to be the new Janeane Garofalo in training.
And finally, our first male makes the list. All actors have peers in the industry they look up to. My guess is that with his gold hoop earrings Daniel Day Lewis has a high admiration for Johnny Depp circa Pirates of the Caribbean stage.
