Always a Bridesmaid, Never an Attendee

A couple years ago I hit that stage in life when summers become an intricate schedule for friends' weddings, showers, and pre-nuptial parties. I have been a bridesmaid for a handful of these, and although I am deeply honored to be part of the special day, I find myself with a growing collection of bridesmaid dresses that will most likely never be worn again.

This summer, I was secretly happy not to hold the title for any of the weddings in the line up. It meant a small break from responsibility and the chance to choose to wear anything to the wedding (I am still recovering from Catholic school uniform trauma).

My excitement quickly wore off after I began dress shopping. Keeping in mind that I'm not one to be mistaken for a wall flower, and have issues with wearing two looks too close together, this task has become a nightmare. From online shopping, to boutiques, department stores, and yes of course within my own closet, I keep coming up empty handed.

That is until Jamie recommended I find something from her store. The idea seemed simple enough, she has tons of cocktail dresses I can customize with colors and fabrics galore. And then the irony of it all hit me. By shopping at Bella Bridesmaid, my outfit, albeit unique from the actual wedding party, will still be a bridesmaid dress.

I suppose I don't know your pain of always being in the wedding and never being able to just be a guest. I am the complete opposite. Usually I am the guest, but this time one of my closest friends is getting married and I am excited to say that I am one of her bridesmaids! However, we are all getting to the age now where more of our friends are going to get married, so I hope my closet doesn't start to resemble it's own bridesmaid boutique shop. I think being a part of the wedding is fun...so far. One of my favorite parts is helping the bride-to-be find some perfect Chicago Wedding Bands to play at her reception. Its a great bonding experience with the bride her self and the other bridesmaids.
