I'd Like to Thank the Academy: Le Fin

Ok, let's try this Blogger formatting game one more time... I'm not thrilled about either of my previous two Oscar posts in terms of their appearance. Here's to the lucky third try:

In the spirit of creating a more "positive" blogging forum (inspired by my negative fan of posts past), I wanted to dedicate a piece on the uniqueness of the couture silhouettes seen on Sunday night. It's not easy taking a risk on the red carpet, let alone on one of the year's biggest nights. But I'd like to say "Well done! Bravo!" to these fashion forward ladies. Their gambles paid off in a big way. Though I don't really have a favorite look from the evening, each of these actresses ranks up there in the top spot.

Elizabeth Banks and Rachel McAdams shine in spring pastel colors. I love the way the delicate flow of the chiffon.

Nicole Richie wore Reem Acra, although the gown reminds me of a Missoni weave.

And what would "Trim" be without taking some time to look at the details?

Sarah Jessica Parker's Chanel gown had such beautiful detail and shape. But what I admired most was how her hair, makeup, and accessories completed the entire ensemble.

Zoe Saldana wore a multi layered dress, in concept not all too unlike her choice for the Golden Globes. However, the difference in the two looks (and what shifts her from my least favorite to most admired) is the color story within the gown, the way the layers flow together instead of collide, the change in texture throughout the dress, and how her satin shoes match perfectly.
