Go West young man

It's Sunday morning in Phoenix, and I am about to take off for the second half of my move to New Mexico. I thought I would post a quick update (and indulge in the WiFi my hotel room offers... since I am not scheduled to get internet installation at the house until the 28th :S )
Yesterday was very adventurous for the Van Son clan. Amanda helped my parents and I pack up the van and we hit the road around 1:00. The fact that I am moving hit me around 2:00... It was a rough ride for the next hour or so.
I've been so caught up in packing and prepping for moving, wrapping everything up at work, and starting winter quarter classes at FIDM, that there hasn't been too much time to let the whole situation register. As I've said all along, this move is truly for the best. That said, it is also one of the hardest things I've had to go through in awhile. (more on this later)
By the time my parents and I hit the Arizona border it was already dark and we thought after such a long day it would be best to settle in for the night. We pulled off at a "highway stop" sort of town (you know... the ones with two restaurants, a gas station, and hotel) the whole place was completely sold out for the night due to a blue grass festival this weekend. It apparently has been sold out since JUNE!
Our options were to push through to Phoenix or back track to Blythe, a town we had already passed 20 miles ago. My parents chose the latter. Heading back West on the 10 seeing signs for Los Angeles just dug my new found sadness in deeper. We arrived in Blythe only to be greeted with the same news of No Vacancy.
Our choice seemed to be decided for us. After dinner, we hit the road once more, going East... again... and pushed through to Phoenix.

I hope today's roadtrip is MUCH less eventful. There will be enough material to cover with a new home and a new town!
