As Amanda and I walked up the strip on our last day in Vegas last week, we happened upon a little known casino named Planet Hollywood. From the looks of it, the "all new" PH hasn't been open too long. Imagine our excitement to explore a little home away from home (cut back to our California Adventure visit and Disney's version of H-Wood)

Needless to say, we were more than disappointed in Planet Hollywood. They have removed all the film and tv memorabilia that used to don the walls and now the decor and brand has nothing to do with its name. In fact, we couldn't find any relation to Los Angeles. In a city known for housing replicated cities: Paris, New York, Venice, and a funny Space Needle (although the Stratosphere is no Seattle) this new casino falls very short. The only area that seemed to have a bit to do with our humble home is their mall, "Miracle Mile Shops"

Here is the main problem with that idea. I happen to live in Miracle Mile. It was once a main shopping area, but has since turned into the museum district. Oddly enough, whenever I tell people it's where I live, even locals have no idea what I'm talking about... the neighborhood is practically unknown. This is why I have a hard time figuring out why the name was used for their mall.
Now aside from questioning the decision to use the Miracle Mile name, there are a couple suggestions I would LOVE to pass off to PH.
Use some of the well known icons on Hollywood Blvd like stars on the sidewalks, a great movie theatre exactly like Grauman's Chinese, and import some great icon restaurants like Mel's Diner, Barney's Beanery, the Ivy, and Geisha House.
Finally, add some SoCal flare with a pool area that looks just like one of the piers, and place palm trees, magnolias, and Birds of Paradise flowers throughout the inside of the casino.
I understand that Planet Hollywood is probably hesitant to consider a remodel so soon after building, but I would like them to know when the time comes, I will be more than happy to take on this little project ;)
