I've been in pet mode again lately. My house in New Mexico gets lonely and it would be nice to have a cuddly companion to hang out with. Unfortunately my travel schedule isn't conducive to keeping a plant alive, let alone a furry friend.
Needless to say, it should come as no surprise that I launched my own very local animal outreach program.
Meet Mutt and Jeff.
These two are the happy new inhabitants of the my parent's backyard (there are already three kitties living inside). And although they reside outdoors, I make sure they have just as many meals, love and attention as their in-home counter parts.
The ultimate strategy of my "outreach" is to relocate these scruffy yet lovable felines to a new home in a certain Austin, TX ;)

Love your blog about the kitties! Even if Mutt is kind of a "mean looking" guy, he's really kind of a "pussycat" & easy to get along with. Jeff is just a sweetie, a bit dopey, if you will, but with a little grooming and TLC he's not a bad looking animal at all. Of course, while Carina is here they are being spoiled rotten, which is OK, except that they'll be expecting this kind of treatment from now on, even after Carina leaves after next week. Oh well, Carina is as big a sucker for pets as I am, so that makes it alright, I guess. We'll see how all this ends' meanwhile, our two "outside" cats are having the time of their life.Love, Dad.
