Arts: Antique Roadshow

While meandering around on South Congress last weekend (for non-Austinites, its an eclectic neighborhood with great shops, dining, and music... also the street where Nick's old apartment was), we popped into a great antique shop Uncommon Objects. While I was trying to convince Nick how cool it would be to hang a random old faucet on the wall, he spotted a panoramic photo of Paris. For $25 bones we thought it would be kind of cool to hang somewhere in the house.

We got to the front to pay, when the owner gasped "I didn't realize this was a Goldbeck"... err, yeah sure, he's so great? Apparently Eugene Goldbeck is a famous panoramic photographer from the early 20th century. I'm guessing he didn't mean to price the photo so low, but that's the beauty of antique finds!

My crappy camera obviously couldn't capture the whole thing, but at least it shows off some of the photo. You can kind of tell the picture isn't in the best shape with some scratches and water damage. With a new frame, I think this will be a great focal point to the living room.
