Holy Discovery Part 2: Belt Loops

Because I had so many questions on the belt loops mention, I thought I should clarify.

Those very thin belt loops (they look more like strings) that are sewn on to the sides of dresses to keep the belt in place are not meant to be worn. Just like pockets that are sewn together, pleated skirts which have a string through them, and blazers whose back slits are kept together with an "X", these are placed by the manufacturer to give the item hanger appeal and to keep form until the apparel item is purchased.

If you think about it, the belt loops serve no purpose in holding the belt on the body when the dress is worn, and hardly do a thing for the look of the garment. More often than not, they fall apart on the first wearing... (this should be your first clue).

Now go home and cut those loose strings!
